I’m a 31 year old self employed Carpenter living in Reading. The reason behind the extension was to gain a dining room as well as building a large fish tank through the wall so it can be viewed either side of the rooms as I find this to be therapeutic to watch after a hard day’s work.

I managed to achieve everything I wanted and more! Due to the shallow pitch of the roof I had ordered timbers that were too long, but this came in handy as I ended up having a much larger soffit which gives me a dry area outside and I can install some downlights too to brighten up the garden area.

I didn’t really need the space as I live alone, but it did help create a dinning room which in turn gave me a bigger lounge. I’ve also accommodated the hole in the wall of where the window used to be and have installed a very large aquarium which I can view from both the lounge (main house) and the dinning room (extension).

Everything went so smoothly. I had no issues with anyone surrounding me or with the build itself. It was a great project to have built myself, and look forward to the next project. Everything went so well throughout the build so I couldn’t be happier with it. The main benefit is I have a dinning room and more space in the lounge, which gives me more room throughout the downstairs area.
