We have lived in our converted bungalow for 27 years, but the layout of the house has always been a compromise. When our two sons left home, we considered moving to get a better design. When we discovered the high costs involved, we started to explore the idea of developing what we already had.

We contacted several plan drawers including iPlans. We were impressed from the start at the quick and professional response from iPlans and decided to go ahead. The consultation and design process was on-line and we were sceptical about how this would work. We had a very productive meeting, and from the start, felt that we had made the right choice. Our emails were dealt with promptly, and telephone contact was easy.

The main thing we wanted was two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, and two triangular windows front and back. We also wanted a new staircase with a balcony. We had an existing dormer, but this was to be taken down and made bigger. We had a series of design review meetings, and iPlans gave us a few ideas to think about. iPlans then dealt with the planning application and building control.

iPlans gave us some recommendations for builders, and we made some enquiries of our own. We decided on a local builder who had been recommended, and work started in January 2023. The roof was removed and a new dormer and roof constructed. Over the next few months, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a new staircase were added, plus some changes to the ground floor. The project took about 4 ½ months, we are pleased with the result and all our ideas have been produced.
